Meet some Sparklers

Lukas Hoenderdos

Product Owner

I joined Sparkling in 2014 as a freelance game developer. I taught the team how to use Unity and together we built City Island 2 in just 3 months.

Years later I joined Sparkling full-time, where I started as a lead developer and grew to become a Product Owner. I love creating games with a dedicated and passionate team.

At home I love to play with my 3 year old baby girl. I pretend to be good at fixing and flipping cars and I have a weakness for the first generation Mini Cooper.

It’s not just about creating artwork that’s so cutting-edge and immersive that players forget the world around them. If we focused solely on that, our games would only run on the latest flagship devices and we’d immediately lose over half of our audience.

So instead, we aim to design visuals that are smart, efficient, and still aesthetically striking. How can we use animation in a way that’s light but effective? How can we ensure paying players feel like their purchase has been rewarded with something visually stunning and satisfying?

These are the kinds of questions that push us creatively. The limitations don’t hold us back, they drive us to find bold, inventive solutions in how we create and implement our art.

We believe great games are made when people feel at home; inspired, supported, and free to share ideas. Our team works hard, but we also make sure there’s plenty of room for fun along the way.

As office manager at Sparkling, I love building an atmosphere where creativity flows and everyone feels comfortable to be themselves. From small daily details like an organized office and full fridge, to organizing bigger team events to making sure HR policies and the financial administration are up to date. My goal is to keep the vibe relaxed, welcoming, and energizing, so our game makers can focus on their jobs and their personal development.

Our office is located in Delft, the Netherlands. Known for its famous painters, Technical University and blue pottery. We have a light, spacy office at the top two floors of a former beer brewery.
